Does anybody ever think about how badass Madam Pomfrey is?

fiendfyre-curse:

She never asks questions. Remember the time Hermione turned into a cat? She made sure no one saw her. She regrew a whole arm’s worth of bones in one night. She can mend bones in a second. She even kicks out Dumbledore on some occasions. Just think about how many students get injured in Hogwarts every year and she just fixes them back up like new.

We all just need to take a second and thank Madam Pomfrey.

I like to think Madam Pomfrey is very discreet and “there” for her students.  I mean, it would suck to be brand new in the Wizarding World and like BAM you get your first period.  fear not, tiny first year, Madam Pomfrey has got you covered—- also, are magical period supplies good?   or is there a thriving tampax market at Hogwarts because the archaic wizarding world was still using pads with belts?

Teen scientist harnesses sun power to help Navajo community
New Mexico teen Raquel Redshirt uses everyday materials and the sun to build solar ovens, fulfilling a Navajo community need and winning an award at the Intel ISEF competition.
Growing up on New Mexico’s Navajo Nation, Raquel Redshirt was well aware of the needs of her community. Many of her impoverished neighbors lacked basics such as electricity, as well as stoves and ovens to cook food.
Though resources in the high desert are limited, Raquel realized one was inexhaustible: the sun. “That’s where I got the idea of building a solar oven,” the teen says.
She researched solar ovens and found that most incorporate mirrors or other expensive materials. Raquel wanted to create a design that anyone could easily afford and replicate, using readily available materials.

Throw me over your shoulder and carry me off to Valhalla you viking goddess.

For anyone who doesn’t know: The name of this adorable ‘viking goddess’ is Samantha Wright

Yes, she might be showing up in the 2016 olympics.

And yes, she is always this cute.

Samantha Wright is an adorable combination of the Hulk and Tinkerbell.

The only post I routinely reblog

This beautiful valkyrie

This is basically my goal body!   I am a person who will never be skinny and who has naturally HUGE legs (I can leg press about 300 pounds… yay!)   and I really want to develop my body more to be like this!  I love how round she is but muscular!

Just a reminder:the natural diet of these birds is BONES. Not just bone marrow; actual bone shards. They pick up huge freaking bones from carcasses and drop them onto rocks until they get spiky pieces and then they swallow them. Their stomach acid dissolves bone.

look me in the eye and tell me that’s not a fucking dragon

And they aren’t naturally red like that. That’s self-applied makeup. They find the reddest earth they can to work into their feathers as a status symbol.

And they don’t scavenge other parts of carcases, just the bones. 85-90% of their diet is exclusively bone. Hence why it’s only a myth that these birds would just pick up whole lambs and carry them off. It’s not true, but in German they’re still called Lämmergeier as a result.

So metal
